Sail Handing and Equipment Comments

Everything on the boat is original, except for the bottom hull and the inside floor for one's feet -- they were lovingly restored to exact replacement. They needed to be replaced due to sitting on the sand, under a boat house for a number of years. I have the original cloth sails, but they're a little moth eaten. This sale includes two other sets of sails.

Spars and Rigging Comments

The spars and rigging are original and in good working order. The wood has been cleaned and varnished. It's been stored in a garage, so the varnish looks new.

Further Comments

This 16' Johnson Boat Works, is a vintage 1956 X-Boat sailboat, the 13th one made in 1956 -- almost fully restored. The boat is complete with everything shown in the photo:  sails, rudder, centerboard [cast iron], stern accessory drawer, wood mast and boom. The boat's in good working order, especially the bottom, which was partially replaced with the exact dimensions and wood types (white oak for the ribs/mahogany for the outside hull) and to exact specifications. As one can see, the top surface fabric/paint is original and needs to be replaced -- it's the easiest part of the restoration. The rubber reddish bumper rails are included, they go on after the top is re-surfaced and painted/sealed.

In the past 20 years the boat was mostly stored in a garage or under a cover made from rubber roofing material.

The original owner lived and raced on Lake Minnetonka, I'm the second owner.

The quality heavy duty trailer (pictured) is available for an extra $275.
