Delaware Bay Ducker..Antique wood rowing boat - $1800 (Pittsburgh)
Built in the early 1900's, this Delaware Bay Ducker was probably made in Philadelphia or Baltimore more than a century ago. Built to hunt in marshes and shallow water, the boat is 15 feet long, 48" wide, beautiful lines, very shallow draft .... the boat narrows to just 9" height at it's waist. Clinker built with copper rivets, wood is very solid, 4 original ash oars (excellent shape, beautifully refinished ) , removable original subfloor, removable original front seat, and rear standing platform (not original), oak pushpole with iron plug tip. Two brass runners extend the entire length of the bottom for protection and as "blades" to pull the boat along ice. A museum piece that could be repainted and used as a classic rower. Boat has been inside for more than 30 years....the paint has flaked off during storage..... Email me for photographs if interested. Only provenance is a receipt for the boat ..... it was sold as a used boat in 1940..... the seller was a gentleman who was probably one of the directors of the Fox Shotgun Company in Philadelphia, the buyer was a local Philadelphia captain. It has been in my family for over 60 years.
We are seeking someone who will care for this boat. Please make an offer, or pass this on to someone who cares about collectible American boats.
